Vila Real de Santo Antonio

The city lies on the delta of the impressive Guadiana River, which forms the frontier with Spain. Along the beautiful promenade there are many restaurants, the nicest hotel in town and a marina. The city was completely destroyed by the earthquake and the following tsunami in 1755 and then set up again, after the pattern of a chessboard just like the old town of Lisbon which was also rebuilt in the same way.
